Referral Program

Earn Credits by Referring

If you're getting value from Kilo, chances are you know other companies that would too. The referral program rewards you with conversation credits every time someone you refer becomes a paying customer. It's a straightforward way to reduce your costs while helping peers discover a tool you believe in.

How the referral program works

The process is simple:

  • Get your referral link. Go to Account > Referrals in your dashboard. You'll see a unique referral URL tied to your account.
  • Share it with another company. Send it to a colleague at a different company, mention it in a Slack community, or include it in a recommendation — however you naturally share tools you like.
  • They sign up and subscribe. When the person you referred creates a Kilo account using a company email and makes their first payment on a Starter or Growth plan, you earn $100 in conversation credits.

  • That's it. No complicated forms, no waiting for approval. The credits are applied to your account automatically.

What $100 in credits means for you

Credits translate directly into additional conversations on your plan:

  • On the Starter plan ($1.50 per conversation): $100 gives you approximately 66 additional conversations.
  • On the Growth plan ($1.00 per conversation): $100 gives you exactly 100 additional conversations.

  • These credits work just like top-up conversations — they're added to your balance and used as needed. They don't expire at the end of your billing cycle.

Example: You're on the Starter plan with 300 conversations per month. You refer two companies who both subscribe. That's $200 in credits, which adds roughly 132 extra conversations to your balance. You've effectively increased your monthly capacity by over 40% at no cost.

    Eligibility rules

To keep the program fair and prevent abuse, there are a few requirements:

  • Company email required. The person you refer must sign up with a company email address (e.g., jane@acmecorp.com). Personal email addresses like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, or iCloud don't qualify. This ensures referrals represent real businesses.
  • One referral per company. You can only earn credit once per company domain. If you refer two people from acmecorp.com, only the first one counts.
  • New companies only. If a Kilo account already exists for that company, the referral doesn't qualify. The program is designed to bring in new customers.
  • Credit after first payment. Credits are awarded only after the referred company makes their first payment. If they sign up for the free trial but never convert to a paid plan, no credit is issued. This protects against signups that never actually use the product.
  • No self-referrals. You can't refer someone who uses the same email domain as you. Referring a colleague at your own company doesn't qualify.

  • Tracking your referrals

You can see the status of every referral on the Account > Referrals page. Each referral shows one of three status badges:

  • Signed up — the person you referred has created an account but hasn't made their first payment yet. They might still be in their free trial. No action needed on your part — if they convert, you'll get the credit automatically.
  • Credit awarded — the referral completed their first payment and your $100 in credits has been added to your account. You can see the credits reflected in your conversation balance.
  • Ineligible — the referral didn't meet one of the eligibility requirements (e.g., they used a personal email, or their company already had an account). The specific reason is shown so you know what happened.

  • Tips for successful referrals

  • Refer companies that are similar to yours. If Kilo works well for your type of business, it will likely work well for companies in the same space. Think about peers at other companies who have similar sales motions.
  • Share after you have results. The most effective referral is "We started using Kilo and got 12 qualified leads in the first week — here's my referral link if you want to try it." Real results are far more compelling than a generic recommendation.
  • Mention it in communities. If you're active in Slack communities, LinkedIn groups, or industry forums, a brief mention of Kilo with your referral link can reach a lot of relevant people.

  • Common questions

"Is there a limit to how many companies I can refer?" No. Refer as many companies as you like. Each qualifying referral earns you $100 in credits.

"Do credits expire?" No. Referral credits stay in your account until you use them.

"Can I refer someone if I'm on the free trial?" Yes. You can start referring from day one. Your credits will be waiting for you if you decide to subscribe.

"What if the person I referred forgets to use my link?" Unfortunately, referrals are tracked through the unique link. If someone signs up directly without using your link, the referral won't be attributed to you. Send them the link before they create their account.
